The Castle Of Mey

The Castle of Mey, the Caithness residence of the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, is only 6 miles from John O’Groats along the north coast west towards Thurso. Visitors can see the interior rooms and gardens kept just as the ‘Queen Mother’ left them. Interior photography is not allowed but to see the rooms and for the latest information including opening times visit: www.castleofmey.org.uk.

The Castle now has an impressive new visitors centre, tearoom, shop as well as a childrens’ farm animal centre in the converted granary just a short walk from the castle featuring a donkey, goats, rare breed of pigs and poultry and sheep.
