KITTY WATT PRINTMAKER
BIEL OF DUNCANSBY, JOHN O'GROATS,
WICK, CAITHNESS

Kitty Watt is a printmaker, producing limited edition etchings, which are shown in many galleries throughout the country.
In 1997 she moved to John O’Groats, from Aberdeenshire, where she lives and works with her husband on a croft, farming Highland cattle. Living in one of the few houses powered by a windmill, they farm in an environmentally friendly way.
Kitty moved to Scotland in 1982 and first learnt to ‘Etch’ at the Peacock Printmakers in Aberdeen in 1986. Fifteen years on she is still fascinated by the different techniques employed to produce a print with the use of metal and acid. The experimenting and development continue, using ‘Aquatint’ to achieve tones and colour applied with anything from rollers to cottonbuds.
Inspiration for her work is drawn from the magnificent coastal scenery of Caithness and Orkney, with its wild seas  and skies, towering cliffs and stacks. Stone circles and standing stones are a continuing theme from Aberdeenshire where they formed a frequent and popular subject.
A selection of her cards can be bought locally at John O’Groats Pottery & Gallery. Kitty can be contacted at Tel: 01955 611709
